Yesterday affcernoon a preliminary meeting of gentlemen in favour of the formation of a political organisation to be called "The [Bible in Schools Association of Auckland," the object of which 3hould be to secure the daily reading, in the public schools of the

colony (with time table and conscience • clause); was held in the rooms of the Auckland Young Men's Christian Association. ' Letters apologising for absence from the taeeting and expressing hearty sympathy with the movement were received irom Messrs J. T. Garlick, Edmund Bell, and Dr. Kenderdine. Rev. J. S. Hill stated that he believed the programme oi tne ■ Association was in harmony with the views /of the great majority in the colony.
