BOARD OF EDUCATION.
♦« — The weekly meeting was held this after noon. Present: Messrs S. Luke (chairman), D. Goldie, R. Udy, J. W. Carr, J. M. Lennox, W. P. Moat (M.H.R.), and J. H. Upton. Chairman's Report.—This report stated (1) that Mr P. Andrews, of Huntley, had been informed that use of school building for other than school purposes was regulated by the Committee; (2) that list of books for Mongonui, Newton, and other schools had been approved. (3) That the following temporary arrangements had been made :-Mr F. Elmsley from Training College to Newmarket, during the absence of headmaster, Miss »M. H. Currie from Training College to Beresford-street, Miss Mr E. Courtayne from Training College to Newton East; (4) that applications from Misses M. A. Hossack, E. S. Bull, H. J. Priestley, and A. C. Thomson bo hold over for consideration at quarterly adjustment of salaries.—The report was adopted. Longman's Readers Recommended. — Tho Educational Institute forwarded the following resolution : " That haying examined several series of Readers, this Committee is of opinion that Longman's Newßeaders are the most suitable for use in the .Auckland district."
