The French Man-o'war.
The French iron frigate Duquesne, which arrived yesterday afternoon from Franco, via Tahiti, carrios 21 guns, and has the flag of .in admiral flying at her mizzen. As she took up her station in mid-stream she fired with grout rapidity a salute ot 21 guns. Sho 1? a tough and formidable - looking craft, painted white and furnished with a steel ram. She is registered as of 5,440 tons, and has engines of 5.300 horee-power, while her speed is 16-8 knots per hour. She was built at Koohefort in 1876, and has been in these seas before now. Her measurements are ■ Length, 333 ft; beam, 50ft 3in ; and dopth, 22ft Sin ; and she is ship rigged. Captain Sainty (pilot) boarded hor off the Kangitoto Reef, and Captain Burgess, on passing her in the launch, was told by the French commander that all on board were well, but that aa a matter of fast ho desired to have the Health Officer on board to pass his Tessel. Dr. Lewis accordingly visited the Uuciuosne, and finding all on board in good health, paseed her. The Duquesne will remain hero for about a week, and before leaving will probably be open for public inspection.
