The programme issued for the Ponaonby Choral Society's eutortainment to-morrow should enlist public favour, and assure a considerable amount of patronage. Tho concert selections are charming, and the farce by St. Mutthew's Dramatic Society is said to be highly diverting. Moro than thia, tho occasion will be the Poneonby Choral Socioty'a last appearance in public. The shareholders of the " Leader" (Temperance newspaper) held their first annual meeting in Bobson's Rooms last night, 27 gentlemen being present, and Mr J. T. Garlick, Chairman of Directors, presiding. The report stated that the position of the Company was euch that the Directors could fairly congratulate the shareholders upon it, there being but :i small deficiency, which could have been wiped off and a balance left to the good if the Dowlyacquirod printing plant had boen sot down at its real value instead of at coet price. The accounts were certified to as correct by Mr J, Waymoutb, the auditor. The Chairman in moving the adoption of the report reviewed the prog;rees of the Company, and said that so far tho " Leader " had curried out the objects for which it was started, viz., to further tho interests of the Goepel and temperance. The motion wts eecondcl by Dr. A. O. Knight, and carried unanimously Dr. Knight and Mr S. J. Ambury wore then elected directors in the room of Messrs Newman and Ewington, whose business engagements prevented them from attending the meetings. A vote of thanks was accorded to tho directors and to the editor.
