CHILD MURDER.
Melbourne, Oct. 14.
The police have now on hand seven recent undiscovered cases of infanticide, a crime that appears of late to be rapidly on the increase. The result of an inquest held by tho City Coroner at th<3 morgue on Saturday adde one more shocking case of child murder to tho list. Tho body was discovered floating in the rivor by a sailor. The medical evidence of Dr. F. ii. Bird showed that the infant was born alive. Tho umbilical cord was cut and not tied. Tho cause of death was suffocation by drowning. 'I'hc jury, undor the direction of the coroner, found a verdict of wilful mur-Jer agaiust some person or persons unknown.
