At the inspection parade of No. 2 battalion, Lieut. Collier announced to the Queen's Own Rifles that Captain Keep had been offered the position of adjutant to the battalion, but had declined it. The announcement elected cheors from tho members of the Qtrtjen's Own, who would be very sorry to lose so good a commander.
The Rev. Mr Robertson, Mrs Robertson and family left for Sydney by the Hauroto this atternoon, and were seen off by a larga number of friends. Dr. McMullen was also a passenger by the Hauroto.
A musical and dramatic entertainment will be given to-morrow evening in AH Sainto' Schoolroom, in aid of the funds of the Poneonby Choral Society. Th 6 programme is attractive, and should not fail to draw a good house.
A man named John Rowo was admitted to the Hospital this morning. It appears that he was engaged In a saw mill, and by tome means got hia foot caught in the pulley-belt, the result being that it was badly fractured.
