Hori Korakanui and Others v. Hknbv Lane.—The hearing of evidence was continued yesterday afternoon and to-day in this action, which is one to recover the sum ot £110013s m, the value of certain kauri and other trees sold. Mr Forwood with Mr Palmer appeared for the plaiutiff, and Mr Cotter for the defence. Lawrence Plymer said the measurement produced was a fair copy of hi 3 rough memos, of cut stumps on the Waihini Estate ; all those kauris were over 2 feet 6 inches thick at tho stumps.— Frank O. Forwood, commission agent, gave evidence as to visiting the block of land, and making a report of the number of stumps and a description of them.—William Meikle, a witness for the defence, vvas then called by permission of tho Court, and deposed to its bpmg usual to measure a 2 feet 6 inches tree in d'umctcr, from the centre of the barrel to the bark.—James McLcllan, timber merchant, gave evidence in regard to the usual way of purchasing timber, and said it was usual to measure trees when standing at the stumps. ,„„.,.,. Whiripotu, alias Trail, gave evidence as to w hat the first agreement between tho natives and Lane really was. Mr J- H.
