A NEW OMNIBUS.
Messrs Cousins and Atkin, coachbuilders, Elliott-street, have just turned out from their factory a novblty omnibus, combining lightnoss, easo, and carrying capacity unequalled by any of their previous efforts. The complement of tho 'bus is .'J2, of which number 17 aro accommodated on tho top, which is reached by a Eomi-spiral staircaso at tho rear of tho 'bus. The seats on top dro docidedly a now innovation, being simply garden chairs put crosswise oi the vehiclo with an ai«lo up tho centre, so that passengers could easily imagine that they were attending Ecrvice in somo small convonticlo. Ovor tho head of tho driver is a longer seat, which faces tho others. By this arrangement of chairs, plenty of room is afforded for tall passengers to stow away tho bottom handles of their body. Inside, tbo seats are made of kauri, bont to a comfortablo shapo by o steaming process lately adopted at thefactery. The ven'ilatibn is on an en tirely now systom. Tho windows aro fixtures which precludo peoplo from getting either their-bair and temper rufllcd by the draught occasioned when somo curi us persons poifc'.sts in having tho windows down in order to look out. Immediately above thedoor is a gablo which is provided with ventilator at each end Naturally the hot air rises to tho gable nod finds egress by tho ventilators without any of the passengersbeitigtroubled with a draught. Added to this, ventilators are aflixod above each of the windows. The vehicle is the lightest yet turned out in this city, and it is satisfactory to learr. that it is real local industry, nono but New Zealand wooei being used in its construction. Even the voiy axles are mado on tho premises, and aro guaranteed to stand moro prossuro than tho imported articlo. The omnibus was taken for the trial trip last Friday ovoning, when everything proved satisfactory.
