Allegro Breach ok tiik Pubdic works Act.- James Hogan, of Panmuro, wap charged with a breach ot this Act by behaving in an olfensivc manner to others while travelling in a railway carriage between Auckland and Kllcrslie. Mr George appeared for dofendaud, and Sergeant Green represented the police. W H. Stebbings deposed to being a passenger in a non-smoking second-class carriage between Auckland and Onchunga. Defendant and a youth were also passengers. Hogan attempted to light his pipe in the carriage and on being remonstrated with, he said that he, witness, was an eccentric person. Tlugan muttered other language of a threatening character towards witness and he thought he used words to the eit'ect that he intended to do for witness when he got him out of the carriage. After hearing evidence the licnch dismissed the caseobrerving , that the principal witness had, incross-oxamina- i tion, admitted to using offensive language himOiISCENE Language,—Hessio Howe, a youth of 11 years, was charged with using language of a disgusting character in front oi the Salvation Barracks, Onchunha.-Philip Lynds deposed to hearing the accused make use of had languaae in front of llio barracks, near the footpath, at Bbout fl p.m.. when several were about, including ladies. The language could bo heard in the lobby of the barracks.— the boy's conduct was not good on other occasions. He had then l/een put out ot the barracks for bad conduct.-Constable Haslett deposed to the boy genorallv misconducting himself with one or two others at the Salvation Army barracks.-Sergeant Green stated that complaints had been made to him by tho boy having kicked at a lady in the barracks on the night iv question, who declined to take any steps against them.-Captain Parncll said the youth worked for him for some three weeks, and that he had behaved himself very well. He could not speak for his conduct after night.— As the Bench was disinclined to send the youth to gaol, he was imprisoned to the rising of the Court, when he was discharged with a caution. Unregistered Dobs.- Simeon cundy cims. H Green. Augusta V. MeQuoid, and Samuel Bright, were each charged by the Registrar (Mr Hutchison) with neglecting to register their dogs in due tinie, and were fined respectively Is. and 12s costs, including registration fee.
