Dotoctive Doolan arrosted a young man named Georgo F. Waller on tho steamer Rotomahana prior to hsr departure for tho South to-day. Waller is charged with embezzling £IS, tho moneys of tho incumbent of the Episcopalian Church at Corotniindel, these befog the proceeds of a concert.
Mr Matthow Burnett, the temporance lecturer, visited Onohunga last night, and htid a largo audience in tha Congregational Church. Mr W. P. Hunter presided, and the lecturer was aleo supported by ministers of various denominitionß and others, Shortly after- noon to day Mr Burnett paid a vieit to tho Govornment workshops at Newmarket. There is to be a grand temperance demonstration at Newmarket, the hoadquarters of the brewing interest, including a toarchlight procession, after which Mr Burnett is to lecture on "The Illustrious Father Mathew, the Great Irish Apostle of Temperance, and tho Lessons of his Life."
The performance of the temperance cantata " Rescue of Harry Grey " in St. James's Hall to-morrow evening, promises to be a great buccoss. The choir will consist of 100 voices, and Mr Edmonds will conduct.
The entertainment in Mr VVaite's Hall this evoning In connection with St. Baraabas's Church iioxpectedto boot a very interesting character.
