Tho flames coming out of the wall lit up the shop like gaslight, and ho could see no stock whatever, In examining tho debris next morning lie found several clock springs and some brass. Mury Isabella Colos.aged 10, deposed that on the night of the lire she was sent down to Mr Erickson's. On tho way down she saw Mr Clnrko at;anding behind tho closet; He stayed there about 10 minutes, peeping round the corner,

Examined by Mr Oottor t The closet was not vory far away. Sho did not sco the man go behind the closet. She was sure that it was Mr Clarke. Ho had a black "billy-cock" had on. Slio only saw Mr Clarke's faco onco.

Miss Johnston, G. A. Colos, W. A. Crombio, Henry Hay, and Theodoro Porcy Brown also gave evidence for the prosccu tion.

Mrs Mary Ann Irwin, at whoso residence the prisonor boarded, deposod that sho assisted the prisoner to bring the boxes, jewellery, otc. from tho lire to hor placo in Summor-Ptreet. None of tho things had boon in her house before tho night of tho firo.

As the witness horo became somewhat faint, and it Was near 5 o'clock, Hla Honor adjourned tho Cjurt until this morning.
