London, October 5 —Her Majesty the Queon has intimated that she would prefer a vote for the establishment of an Imperial Institute before tho contemplated purchase of a Capo diamond, worth at least a quarter of a million, which is in the market, or of a vote for the re°toration of Westminster Abbey, which would cost £300,000. The Proposed Imperial Institutu. Mklbourn'k, this day.—Tho West Australian Government havo offered to contribute five thousand pounds towards the proposed Imperial Institute in London. The South Australian Government expressed inability to contribute, because the expenditure would interfere with the Adelaide Jubilee Exhibition. Mr Gillia?, Premier, Victoria, proposes a joint contribution by the Australian colonies of £20,000.
