Wellington Fine Arts Exhibition.

Tho Auckland Exhibits,

Wellington, this day. Auckland art is not largely roproeontod at the annual Exhibition of tho Now Zealand Fine Arts Association. Miss Kate Ridings has sent for the competitive department three studies of flowers in oils and wntor colours, and hai taken the prizo in each of theso classos. Mr Charles Blorafiold contributes two pictures in oil of the White Torraco and ono of the Pink Terrace, nnd views of Nibotipu and Waitakoroi streams. Mrs J, McCosh Clark's only exhibit is a flower study of begonias in oil, and Mr U. W. Payton sends a view of Tararu Range. A numbor of coloured photos by Miss Stuart, of Auckland, aro pronounced to be perfoct of their kind. Tho productions of local and Southern artists aro numerous, and on tho wholo the exhibition is very successful. His Excellency tho Governor, in opening the Fine Arts Exhibition, drew comparisons bitwean the generosity shown by private individuals in Auckland with regard to the advancement of high culture and the position of Wellington in the same respect. Referring to tho bequests of tho late Messrs Costley and Mackelvie, he pointed out that nobody who had amassed wealth in the Empire Gity had yet contributed his quota to its artißtic stores, or enabled such additions to bo mado to the architectural featnros of the city as had been the case in Auckland.
