Dunedin, this day. Election Notes. It is understood that Mr Thomas Bracken will again contest Duuedin Central in the Government interest. Tho Hon. T. Dick or Mr W. P. Street, un ex-Mayor, will also be nominated, Tho Rush to Big Bay, The Minister for Minos.in reply to a telegram from Mr Forgus, urging that v track from Wakutipu to Big Bay Bhould be openod up, says: "With the vote at my disposal I intended to work inland to the Lakes with tracks from Big Bay concurrently with the prospecting that is going on there. I expect that tho Hinemoa will take fully ISO practical miners from tbe Bluff on tbe 13th inst. They will be fully equipped for several months' prospecting. This is the beat kind of cure for the Kimberley fever." The Coptic's Southern Passengers. Owing to the Union Company's steamers for the touth leaving Auckland before the arrival of the Coptic, passengers from Loodon for Southern ports will come on in the same steamer, which is expected to leave Auckland for Wellington on Saturday evening. Lady Burgesses. A candidate for a seat at the South Dunedin Council Board was to-day nominated by five ladies. Evidently tho ladies of the Hat appreciate their political privileges. Journalistic Changes. It is reported that Mr S. N. Brown, late proprietor of the Croimvoll "Argus','' ban undertaken tho management of tho " Dunedin Herald." Land Board Membership. The vacancy in the Land Board caused by Mr Brad-haw's decease is expected to be offered to either Mr C. 3. Beeves or Mr \V. Hutchieon.
