Taking the Census in Paris.
There are some difficulties in getting census returns in Paris. It is said that only 25 per cent of the blanks addressed to hotels were returned, even partially filled, and in numberless cases tbe answers were bad attempts to be funny, like " You are too inquisitive," or"Getyourinformationfrom my mother in law." To the inquiry "Where wero you born ?" humorists responded " In a bedroom "; to the query. " What is your profersiou ?" " Expeller of princes" ; to " What is your position in the household ?'' "Sometimes a recumbent, semetimes a standing position," and similar efforts, such a3 attended Freddy Gebhard's appearance in St, Louis some years ago.
