The City Water Supply.
Yesterday afternoon His Worship the Mayor, the Waterworks Engineer (Mr Errington), the City Engineer (Mr W. Anderson), and Dr. Stockwell (Medical Officer to the Board of Health) paid an official visit of inspection to the pumping station at the Western Springs. They found the repairs to the machinery completed, and everything ready for resuming pumping operations. The party visited the various spring heads, and found the water in the 9pring as pure as possible, and what is of importance these times, a copious Bupply. The party also examined Edgecombo's Creek lower down, and found that there was about 250,000 gallons of water. Tho management have been employed lately cleaning out the pond at the Springs, nnd in consequence of this the pumps have been going night and day, putting through as much as 0,000,000 gallons at a time.
