ERADICATION OF SCAB IN SHEEP.
(BY TKL-ÜBATH—OWN CORBKSI'ON-BNT.)
Wellington, this day
The Houso last session voted a sum of money to be usod for the oxtirmation of scab in sheep. A branch of the Colonial Socrotary'aDepartment is now making most vigorous efforts to give full effect to the desire of the House. Infected flocks which from any cases cannot be cleaned will be destroyed, compensation of a moderate kind being given to the owners. Already one or two large flocks in the Marlborough district have been doomed to destruction, and the Colonial Secretary fully expects that within less than six months scab will have ceased to exist amongst Now Zealand flocks. This will be a grand achievement if accomplished.
