THREATENING TO MURDER.
A Madman with Two Bovolvors,
On Monday last considerable commotion' was caused at Korikori Sawmills, near tho Mimukau Heads, by the extraordinary conduct of a man named Jainos Egan, who had worked at tho mill for a period of three waa known that Egan was working in the Huia or four months some twelve months ago. It Buah, and lie travelled from thero to tho Korikori mills, a distanco of over 15 miles. On roaching the mills, he accosted a man that he had formerly been acquainted with, Mr John Betholl, and 1 drawing two loaded revolvers from his broast, threatened to shoot him ,pointingtho weapons at him. Egan accused Mr Bethell of having called him Bomo bad namo 12 months ago, and ho intended to havo his revongo. With some assistance the revolvers woro takon from Egan before any injury was inflicted on Mr Bot hell, butEgan wns allowed to oscapo. Mr Botholl rodo from Kerikori to Auckland on Tuesday, and informed Mr Suporintondent Thomson of tho circumstances, who instructed tho Onehunga police to take tho nocessary stops to arrest Egan. Sorgoant Greene and Constablo Ilaslett wont by boat on Wednesday to tho Huia Bush, wlioro thoy succeeded in arresting tho man in his bush wharo at tho broak of day yostorday morning. Doubts aro ontortainod as to tho man's sanity. Mr Betholl dreaded returning to his homo while tho man was at largo, as his life was not safo. I'risonorhas boon brought on to Auckland, and will be charged with tho ofl'enco at tho Polico Court to morrow morning.
