Auckland Cavalry,

A meeting was held at Robson's Rooms last ovoning. Captain Seccombe occupied tho chair. Mr Woolfield was elocted First Lioutonant, and Mr C. H. Osmond Second Lioutenant. Othor business transacted was not of public interest. A parado has been ordorcd by Colonel Lyon, and will take plaeo in tho Domain at 3.30 p.m. on Saturday. City Guards. This Company nppoars to bo fully doterminod to assume tho promior position, both in respect of attendance nnd drill. Thoro was a splendid muster of 84 all told last ovoning, including Captain Isaacs, Lleutonant Bonnott, flvo non-commissioned officers, and four raw recruits, who wore handed over to Sergeant Montgomery for instruction. Sergeant-Major Haslam put tho Company through a course of manual and marching exorcise?, which were creditably performed. Captain Hume, formerly of tho 74th Highlanders, was present, and nt tho conclusion of tho drill complimented Captain Isaacs on tho appearance and discipline of his company, The inspection parade was announced for Wednesday, and it was intimated that fines would bo enforced for non-attendance. Thero will bono weokly drill noxt Wednesday, owing to tho Drillshod boing otherwise ongagod, but the Company will muster on Thursday evening, and, headed by tho Garrison Band, will march to St. Matthew's School-room, where a coucort is to bo given under tho patronage of the corps. Collogo Klflos. Tho usual weekly drill of the Auckland College Riflos took place at tho Drill-shed last evening. There was an attendance of 55 in tho ranks, excluslvo of the officers of tho Company, Captain Sloman and Lieuts. Tonke and Houghton. Tho Company was put through an hour's steady drillandmorching oxerefso undor tho Instruction of ColourSorgoant Birley, and the men nre showing signs of attaining a proficioncy highly eroditablo to themsolves and thoir instructor. Honorary Captain Carl Schmltt was present in uniform, and intimated his desire to meet the Company at Ellerslie on Satur- j day next. It will be scon by advertisement elsewhere that in' pursuance with this request tho Company aro to assemble at the Auckland Railway Station at 2 p.m. for convoyanco to Ellerslie, when, after refreshments have boon partaken of at the invil;atation of Honorary-Captain Carl Schmitt, tho Company will march to Auckland by way of Roinuora,
