Thames, this day, Martha Extended (Waihi).—The payable return of 240Jozs of retorted gold has been obtained for the last weeks' operations. Cambria.—Tho lode in tho face of the eastern drivo at No. 3 level manifests a considerable improvement, and ono of the veins of which it is composed carries mineral and shows colours of gold. It- is cidont that tho descending shot of gold cannot now bo far distant. Moro Specimens from tho Cambria. The underhand slope at tho intermediate level yielded 3501bs of specimens this morning, A good show of gold remains in tho roof. Waiotaui.—Tho monthly cloaning-up for this Company took placo yesterday, when 2770zs retorted gold woro obtained fr.om 211 tons general stuff. Waitekauui, — Kiely, tributer, has crushed 100 tons of quartz for tho excellent return of 2750zs gold.
Improved Crushing Ai-pliances.- The propriotois of the Sutro claim, Karangahake, have erected a Baxter stone-crusher, Mackay amalgamating paw, and a settler in connection with tho Hauraki battery, and by theso moans they expect to save 20 por cent, more gold and silvor than is extracted by tho ordinary crushing process. Thames Golden Crown.—The manager has oponed a chamber at the westward sido of tho now shaft at No. 2 level, and in doing so obtained about lOlbs specimens yesterday from the mineralised lodo discovered thoro. It is probable that prospecting works will bo begun on both the lodes now in hand before the sinking of the shaft is resumed.
LitiHTiKa Mines uv Ei.eotkicitv, —Mr Princo. electrician, inspoctod tho Cambria mine yesterday with tho view of arranging for the illumination of tho underground workings by electricity. Tho system which ho proposes to introduco is a spocial adaptation of tho Swan incandescent light to mining purposes. He bolioves that a saving of £20 per month can bo offected in tho cost of lighting tho mino, and ia confident that if tho electric light is once introduced, it will find favour with the owners of mines throughout tho district. Tun Hodson Company's Liquidation.— Tbe liquidator of tho Hobaon Company has ovorcome one of tho greatest dillicultios in having prevailed upon Air Comer to give a transfer of tho title of tho mine and battery, which have hitherto boon withheld. Those valuable properties will now bo realised upon, and if sold to advantage, it is possible that the shareholders may receive a small dividend.
