Effects of Temperance Agitation.
Chbistchdrch, this day.~At Christ' church North East licensing meeting yestei • day, the Chairman expressed pleasure at the marked diminution in the drinking habits of people, a. shown by the police reports. The Inspector said he attributed it to the recent activity in temperance affairs. Christchurch, this day.—During the year ending April 30th, there were 149 con. victions more tor drunkenness' than during the previous year.
