AUCKLAND LIBERAL ASSOCIATION.
A of.nkral mooting of the above Association was hold last night In tho Temperance Hall, the President (Mr H. D. Farnall) in the chair.
Cobhespondew-e.—Letters were recoived from Sir George Grey, the Secretary of the Helen.ville Liberal Association, the Secretary of tho Patriotic Party, Christchurch, enclosing copy of Land Tax petition with signatures received to samo, and regretting that tho petition did not embrace Income Tax ; and from Secretary Amalgamated Joiners' Society, Christchurch, also forwarding copy of Land Tax petition with signatures attached. Accounts, etc.—Accounts wore received and passed for payment, and contracts let for printing 200 copies of resolutions,, 1,000 copies ofjPremier's address, and 1,000 copies of Mr Duffus's paper, "A State Bank." It was resolved to sell the Premier's address at 2d per copy, and to forward him 100 copies for private use. Land Tax Petition.—The Secretary reported what progress had been made in obtaining signatures to this petition, and stated that copies of it, together with circulars, had been sent to 38 kindred societies, trados and labour councils, etc.—lt was resolved to havo these petitions returned on or before tho 25th inst.
Review,—Mr Duncan reviewed tho work of the Association sinco its formation, and in tho course of his address dwolt upon tho duties of Liberals, and the principles which should over guide and distinguiih them. Local Option.—Upon this subject it was resolved " That the President and Secretary be requested to draft a copy of petition to be circulated for signatures and presented to the House of Representatives and Legislative Council, praying them to so amend and reform the lavy that .every person on the electoral roll of the colony shajl have the right and power to vote for local option, and election of licensing commissioners, and that females over 21 years of age, although not owning property, shall also have a vote for local option." The question of division of districts for local option purposes was postponed for consideration till next meeting. This concluded tho proceedings,
