A GANG OF JEWEL BOBBERS.

Two Persons Arrested,

Tiik police havo a clue to tho perpetrators of tho jewellery robbory at Jenncs's, and havo mado two arrests In connection with It, namely—John Davis, a mulatto, nt Wellington, and a young man namodAppendale, at Lyttolton. Tho latter had been employed at tho To Aro Hotel, and on the room which he had occupied boing searched, a couple of keyhole saws wero found, also a gimlet, and it is said that in tho carpet bag lying in the room some of tho missing property was discovered. Tho police are very reticent.

HWillinm Davis, tho mulatto, arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the jewel lery robbery, was brought up this morning charged with receiving n watch knowing tho same to have been 'stolen. The case remanded until the 4th insl.

CniiiSTciiuK_ii, this day. A man has beon arrested at Lyttolton on suspicion of being concerned in the Wellington jowellory robbery. At present it is doomed adv'sablo not to publish particulars.

This Day. At the R.M, Court this morning, before Mr It. Beethnm, R.M., Herbert Allerdalo (or Aflenclalo), alias John Williams, was charged with burglariously entering tho shop of William .Tenness at Wellington on the night of May 2Gth, and stealing therefrom watches and jowollry to the value of about i\SOO. Inspector Finder said, with tho permission of tho Bench, ho would abstain from saying much about the caso at present. He assured the llench that part of tho stolen property had been (raced to tho possession of prisoner, and the police wore investigating the matter further, lie applied for a remand till Thursday, when ho would produco all tho evidence that could be obtained, and then ask for prisoner to bo further romanded to Wellington. His Worship remanded prisoner as requested.
