DETERMINED SUICIDE.
An Old Man Cuts His Throat With a
Tabic Knife,
A eldkrly man named John Nairn committed suicide at the Old Men's Refuge oarly on Sunday morning by cutting his throat with a tablo knife. Mrs Brophy, matron of tho institution, states that Nairn committed the rash act between 2 and 3 u,m., shortly after which he was discovered in bed with his throat cut, the injury having evidently boon inflicted with a table knife which he retained in his possession, The man was bleeding freoly and it was deemed advisable that he should be removed to the Hospital for medical treatment, Ho was attended to by Dr. Bond who found that the wound was a serious one, several veins having been cut. Nairn is a man about 79 years of ago, who onco before attempted his life at Epsom. He was committed to tho Lunatic Asylum, but owing to some irrogularity he was not admitted, and was sent to the Refuge. His present attempt on his own life proved moro successful than his last, for he died from liis injuries in the Hospital this afternoon.
