The following Bylaw will bo considered by thn City Council on Thursday next, 23rd April, 1835 :- " In pursuance of Section 339 of " The Munici. pal Corporations Act, 1870," tho Council of the City of Auckland ordain as follows :— 1. That evory pice drain constructed so as to be capable of carrying olf water, or any liquid, from any private premises in tho City of Auckland, and conneoting with any main sewer or public pipo drain in the said city, shall havo proper and efflciont, and at all times well and sufficiently repaired stench-traps, with properly nntl efficiently constructed, watertight, receiving pits, or basins abovo attached, of earthenwnro, stono, concrete, brickwork, or metal, to the satisfaction of tho City Engineer of Ihe said city. . , 2. That every owner or occupier of any such private promises, tho pipe-drain from which shall connect with any main sower or public pipo drain, and Bhall bo without such appliances, shall after receipt of a notico in writing from tho said Council, or anyOfficor thereof, so to do, and within tho time therein specified, provide, and properly and efficiently construct such Stench-trap, wi'h water-tight receiving-pits or basins, as aforesaid, to the satisfaction of the said City Engineer ; and in tho case of stenchtraps, recoivinK-pite, or basins out of repair, after receipt of a like notico well and sufficiently repair tho same within the timo specified in Biich noiico to tho satisfaction of tho said City Engineer. 3. Any por__on who shall violate, or fail to do or obßcrvo, any rules, matters, or things laid down in theso By-laws; or shall make, do, sutler, pormit, or allow to be done that which ho id not entitled or allowed to do under the authority of these By-laws, shall bo deemed guilty of un ofi'unce, and for each such ofi'eneo Bhall forfeit nnd pay any Bum not exceeding £5, and a further penally of aoy sum not exceeding £5 for every day during which such oircuco bhall continue" P.
