Scottish papers received by last mail state that Lord Breadalbane and other influential personages are raising a fund for the benefit of the oppressed Skye crofters, and that liberal contributions thereto are being received from various quarters. This fund will be devoted to the defence of the crofters against legal prosecutions, as well as for the payment of the passages o* Buch families as may be disposed to emigrate to the colonies. It is probable that some of these families will select New Zealand as the land of their adoption, and thus avail themselves of the liberal offer of our Government in obtaining a portion of the 10,000 acres set apart for crofter fishermen at Catlin's River, Otago. At the Argyle election, in New South Wales, Sir Henry Parkes, who received the Orange and teetotal votes, was elected by a mujority of 41 over Mr Osborne.
