From an excellent start The Pout went to tho front, and on tho crossing road led by a length from Armourer, Sou'-wcster next, and Tigredia fourth, with Tasman on her girths. Coming past the stand and along the bottom turn by the river Poot still led, Armourer half a length away, with Tasman and Sou - wester next, and Tigredia bringing up the rear After going another quarter of a mile Sou-wester left the ruck, and was soon alongside the Poet, Tasman then lying, fourth, with Tigredia by his side. Here Armourer fell away ibeaten, and at the road Sou'wester had wrested the lead from Poet, with Tigredia secopd, and Tasman on theoutside, third. Asthestraightwas entered, it appeared a moral for Sou -wester, but both Tasman and Tigredia challenged, and the run home was one of the most desperate seen on tho course. Tasman gradually drew away from Sou'wester, and Tigredia coming fast, also passed Pilbrow fl horse, but was unable to catch Derritt, who won with Tasman by a length in tho good time of 3mins. 38eecs. Sou'wester was a good third. Dividends: Inside (£2 shares), £10; outside, £4 14s. Tho Stewards' Handicap of 150bovs., 1£ mile, was won by Rubina (9st 101b), ridden by Dorritt; Ugly Buck (7st 31b), second ; Normanby (6st 101b), third. These were the only starters, and the totalisator paid a dividend of £ 1 16s. Time, 2mins. 42£secs. Over £8,000 was passed through the machine during the day.
