Order.—Kato Hoggard applied for a prohibition order to restrain hotolkeepers from supplying her husband, Francis Hoggard, with intoxicating drinks.—He could earn good wages as a oablnotinaker. but was continually drinking, and ruining his health and home.— Captain Bnrford, of the Salvation Army, gave corroborative evidence.—The Bench granted the order. Bedford, alias Carroll, and Patrick Carroll, . were charged with robbing William Byco of £7; also, -with being, the occupier of a lipuao in Chancery Lane frequented by thieves and prostitutes-Sergeant Pratt stated the case. Had ho known thoy were bad characters, he would not have let the ■ house to them.—Peter Simpson, storekeeper, depdaod that the prisoner dealt with him, and he had nothing to say against her. She appeared quiet and respectablo — Mr Speed made a sympathetic defence for the female prisoner. ■ He Would not pretend to say that she was the most virtuous woman in tho city, but she bad a -father and mother in years, and sho was sup-, ported by her husband, Mr Bedford, the contractor.—Sergeant White put in a bng list of convictions against the fumale prisoner.—Mr Speed said ho would say no more, excepting that she wished to join her husband in the Wuikato. The evidence against.
