McKonzio Fruser moved : " Whoroas tho sorvico of praise is an important part of tho public worship of God, which ought to bo conducted in a correct and harmonious manner, and whereas little or no attention is given to this clement in divino service by many of our congregations, to the injury of ro ligion and of our Church, it ih hereby overtured to tho venerablo the Goncral Assembly by the Presbytery of Auckland that it take the promises into prayerful consideration, and adopt such measures as its wisdom may suggest for awakening its people to tho importance of this subject, and stimulating thorn to a more correct and harmonious service of praise."— Roy, G. B. Monro said ho concurred in the spirit of the motion, and would bo preparsd td second it if the wotting were altered so that it should not appear that no attention was paid to tho subject.—Mr Fraser said he was ivillirigto amend the motion by the substitutidn, of. tlib words, "tdo little attention is paid."—Rev. 11. F. Macnicol suggested that the clause should read, " far too little attention." — Thia amendment was accepted, and tho motion ivas carried as amended;

Mr M^achicol Seconded, and. it ■ was agreed; that the following be an overture to tho General Assembly of t'.ie Church :—"Wlieren3 thoro exists con; eiderablc uncertainty regarding tho rights Bf ministbrs who; after resigning their charges, continue to rosido withiiu the boundfi of the church without being employed in any definite settled work appointed by tho Church to sit and deliberate in Church Courts, and whoroas similar uncertainty exists aa to the power of Presbyteries to loose ministers from the active duties of their charges, and continue to thorn their full ecclesiastical status without the consent or the approbation of the General Assembly,—tho (Prosbytery of Auckland hereby humbly ove^turo tho General Assembly appointed to' meet in Chrißtohurch in Fobruary next to take both of tho above premises into consideration, and to enact such rulos regarding them aa they in thoir wisdom may think best."

Tk Aroha.—Mr Mclntosh wrote from Sydenham, Btating that owing to the illness of his Wife, ho was detained at Christehurch. He, however, hoped to be able to resume his duties at To Aroha shortly.—From a report submitted by Mr Noill, it appoared that the sum of £150 per annum might be raised towards tho minister's stipend if the Church Extension Committee would supplement it by an allowance of £25. —It was agreed that the Committee be requested to make the desired grant.
