Shocking Outrage.
• Chrtstchurch, this day.—A brutal outrage was committed on a woman shortly after 12 o'clock on Monday night by three young men, all of whom criminallyassaulted her. Prom the statement of the woman, it appears that they seized her and carried her to a paddock off the South Town Belt, and committed the offence. The men, whose names are Austin Tyrell, John Arthur Cplton, and William Peacock, have all been arrested. - , # ' , Christchuech, this day.—The directors of the Southern Cross Petroleum Company report that in order to raise the small pipes, it was found necessary to procure special appliances from Auckland. These are now at the works, and the following telegram has been received from' the manager :—"Pipes will be lifted this day (Saturday)." When this is done, it is anticipated that the work will be carried on without further interruption. . y>.
