STABBING CASE IN VICTORIASTREET.
This afternoon, shortly before 3 o'clock, as Const. Mitchell was coming down Victoriaho heard a cry of " Police !" and looking in the direction where the sound proceeded, saw a man running away with other two after him. One of the pursuers was bleeding from rounds on the face, and on the constable gelling up to him, he stated that ho had been slabbed by tho man wLo was running away, The offender was promptly arrested, but not before, he had run some distance, and had thrown away the knifo he held in his hand. On being taken to the police station tho prisoner gayo his name as Drnnont The injured man, whose name h Durand, was taken to Dr. Tennent'd surgery, where his wounds wore dressed. The nature of the injuries ia not yot exactly known, but it Is not thought they are serious.
