PRESBYTERIAN ORDINATION AND SOIREE.
An ordination service was held yesterday - afternoon in the Otahuhu Presbyteiian Church, at which the Rev. D. J. Steel,'- ■ M.A.j was ordained. There was a very.., We congregation of persons from Otahuhn and the neighbouring districts, also from Auckland. The following ministers wore E resent:—Revs. J_ Macky, T. Norrie, T. ._ tcKenzie Fraser, R. F. Macnfcol, D. W*. * Runciman, G. B. Monro, J. Bruce, A. M. "- McCallunu 14. Sommerville, J. Taylor-> (Wesl^wjk and F. Gould (Anglican). Mr \. John Macky ia bis three-fold sphere of duty, in consequence of Mr ' Macky - physical infirmity in partly losing ■; his eyesight, and who will bo relieved from - continuous duty by a wiso division, of IS ministerial labour. The Rev. T. McKenziell Fraser, M.A., preached an excellent ordiua-.'*: tlon sermon from the Book of theßeveljtiona of St. John, chap. 2, yojses 4 and 5. Rev... Robert Sommerville narrated tho duties pertaining to Vw. sacred office, and tha usual questfo^s. having heen satisfactorily . onswojf^d by tha »e\v minister, the Rev. J. -WC-3* engaged in prayer. After tho lajing.;; 9R of hands and the form of admission to j tho full rights of a minister, : Revs. R. Ai Sommerville and R. E. Macniool delivered ' addresses, tho former to the minister and r the latter to the congregation. Rev, Mr Steel replied, and asked the divine blessing • on his work as a minister of the Church. At six o'oleck the soiree was ■ _ opened in the Qtehuhu Public Hall.. •-' Tea was provided, on a liberal sc^p presided w». by the ladies, namely* A Mosd^mes Lushington, F. Andrews, Wat-H lace, Band, Robertson, Thomson, Misses -..< Boughs, Wyllie, and Elmslie. After tea,^; a public meeting was held, Rev. Joh_ ', - Macky in the chair.
