SIGNS OF THE TIMES.

A Waikftto Interpreter of *ropheoy.-Bi» Wonderful T&eorlos and Prediction*.

Queen Victoria Fleeing for Shelter to New Zealand.

A contributob to a Waikato paper ( who " is not ashamed to.own that he is a labouring man,'1 residing in the pleasant frontier town of Cambridge, has written, an extraordinary article on the " signs of the times," which goes far to show.that the mantle of the Rev. Dr. Cumming has somehow descended upon this part of tho^ world. The writer believes the second coming of Christ to be near at hand, as thousands have done from the second century till now, and ho supports his belief by copious quotations from the books of Daniel and Revelation—those precious storehouses from which the speculative prophet of modern times draws his material. Wo make a few extracts to show the scope of the article. The writer says :—

" The present federation of the colonies movement I read as the. first step in the direction of the commencement of the fourth kingdom spoken of (Daniel 2, 40, 41), and that will be the clay part; the iron part will be Britain's rule by sea; and I fully believe that the dark war cloud that now overhangs Egypt will burst ere long with multitudes in the valley cf decision, as related in Joel 3, 14, 15. Russia will be the leading power in that direction in order to carry out the pet scheme of the late Czar—that of an overland route to India via Turkey and Egypt; and out of the ruins of Egypt the Lord will raise up another Czar in the person of the Shah of Persia for the settlement of returned Jews upon the promised land, and in order to do that ho will make seven years' covenant With them, and so fulfil the words dl Daniel S, 27. The week I read aa the week of dentals J<9j 27.' .Then will follow the fulfilment of Daniel's vieio'ri as recorded in Daniel 8. The Shah of Persia I read as the Bam; the Popedom as the He Goat."

After predicting a crusade of Roman Catholios "from America and elsewhere" to crush the Shah, the author says the great horn of the "he goat" will bo broken. "So shall the Popedom or third kingdom of Daniel 2,39, be brought to a close in order to the time of the setting up of the fourth kingdom, and as a means to that end [Groat Britain shall enter upon her mission" of ruling the world by sea, as arbitrator of national disputes, with Alfred tho Sailor Prince as Lord High Admiral, which will be the time of the appearance of the Beast or power, dreadful and terrible, spoken of in Daniel 7, 7, having ten horns. These I read as the heads of the scattered ten tribes of Israel, one of wh6m is now represented in the person of Julius Vogel, M.H,P..< another in New South Wales in the person of Sairi Samuel, and so on in different parts of the woMd: 1 must not here omit a very important liof'ri/ that spoken of in vorue 8, that has latel> made its appearance in the person of Tawhiao, King erf the natives of New Zealand, that has got a mouth that speaks great things, and as the King of fierce countenance of Daniel 8, 2 3 does, indeed understand dark sentences. Could words more clearly describe the man 7 And in order that no and his people be made an ally or horn of old England, I fully believe the Prince of Walefl will come to our shores ore long ; and in order to iiliilie the' federation of the colonies and annexation scheme a success he will bo made President of tho Congress, when America, or the once United Srates, will show their wisdom by joining hands with the confederate colonies of Great Britain, and so secure the protection of that flag they so much needed the protection of at the time of the Alabama depredations during the civil war, and for which old England so nobly paid the arbitration award.

This is a delightful admixture of AngloIsraelism, Maori-Iwaelism, and other " fads " well-nigh calculated to drive pome people stupid. To identify two prominent Jews with the lost ten tribes is a feat at which Anglo-Israelites will stand aghast; but Catholics, accustomed to being put down as worshippers of the Beast, muy be a little mollified at learning they are only followers of the He-Goat. The further unravelling of the future discloses things fearful and terrifying. The inspired interpreter (for *>uch he professes to be) goes on thus 1— "My reading of Queen Victoria as the wonderful woman years since I expressed as my opinion to a God -fearing man, and was met with the reply, " Oh, that woman means the Church." The Great Bovealer of secrets tells me now that I was and am correct in my opinion, for I fully believe ere the close of 1885 the federation of the empire will bo an accomplished fact; thus shall she be clothed with the sun. The crown of twelve stars I read as referring to the fact of her family having been made instrumental in publishing the English version of the Bible, and the time of her travail will bo the time of her parting with her three dear eons, in order that they may enter upon their duties. That I read as the time of their being born into active duties of life. Yes, I have long since read Queen Victoria as the Mother of the thn « Kings that are to he subdued during theunti-Christera.'ae martyr* of Jesus, that they may reign with the King of Kings as stated (Rev. 20, 4 ; also Rev, 19, 15). I omitted in proper place to give chapter and verse that speaks of the three Kings being subdued (Daniel 7, 24). Prince of Wales, President of the Federated Colonies Congress ; Alfred the Sailor Prince, as Lord High Admiral; Arthur, Duke of Connaught, as President; Home Hulo Assembly of Christian Patriots in old Ireland. ,1 will now give my further reading of Rev. 12. Verse 6 speaks of her fleeing into the wilderness, where she will find a place prepared for her by God. Now, that place I read as the wilderness of New Zealand, ani her fleeing will be a means of saving her from the fate of the doomed city of London, that is to go down into the sea, as was typified by the angel throwing the millstone into the sea (read Rev., chap. 18, 21). Indeed, the theme of lamentation should convince any unprejudiced mind of the truth of my opinion. Thus shall the dear woman flee that she may escape sudden destruction, and that she may be made perfect through suffering, as was the Captain of her salvation. p verso 4 speaks of the wings of a great eagle. That I read as tho Pacific Railway. The dragon I read as the rubbish of the nation, or those that trade in souls for a living." There is a lot more in the same strain, and the subject is to be continued in a future article j but we should think the samples we have given will be enough for the average reader. The article seems to prove that tho author has omployetf all his leisure time in reading the prophetic parts of Scripture with the daily newspapers as commentary, and the old prophoci s and new events have got "inextricably blended " in . his brain — tho result being this vivid kaleidoscopic picture of Kings, Queens, Princes, and stir, ring events. One merit this interpreter has—tho truth or falsity of his statements can be proved in the near future ; but we do not suppose the people of London will make an immediate and wholesale emigration to New Zealand to avoid " going down into the sea " with the doomed city. So far as the writer makes it appear, indeed, Queen Victoria will be the only one caved out of the four millions of souls.
