MANUKAU.
The nomination took placo to-day at noon in Onehunga Court-Houso. Mr W. G. P. O'Callaghan, Returning Officer, presided. Sir G. M. O'Rorke was nominated by Mr J. D. Jackson, seconded by Mr Ireland. Mr George Jarvis proposed and Mr Pilkinson seconded the nomination of Mr Frank La wry. After both pandidateshad addressed the meeting, a show of hands was taken with the following result ■— Sir G. M. O'Rorko ... ... 38 Mr Prank Lawry 12 Messrs jHeorge James and Peter Clark demanded 'a poll in 'tho interests of Mr Lawry. There was a little "breeze" towards the close of the meeting, when Mr Lawry said he was informed that Mr Ireland's' brother had mado a statement to the effect that it would be a disgrace for tho electors to return a'pig-jobber; but he (Mr Lawry) considered it was no worse to sell a pig than a pig-slcin. Mr Ireland said theallegation was untrue. The meeting closed with cheers for Sir G. M. O'Rorke, and a vote of thanks to tho Returning Officer.
