To tho Editor : Sir,—ln reading your paper of Saturday'^ date, I was much surprised at a paragraph signed "J.G.," stating that I sent in a report to the effect tlmt tho horses of the Northern Omnibus Company wore in a bad condition. Now, sir, 1 beg to give this a Hat denial, as the horses aro in splendid condition and well looked after. The facts of tho caso are as fellows:—l was requested to give the market value of the Company's horses, which I did in my report. Nothing was said by mo about the condition of the hor. cs in that report. Also, 1 should like to know wko furnished the report that appeared in the Star of Wednesday's date, stating that tho horses were in a miserable conititiou.—Yours, truly, Jostl'H CI.AUi. Tho following sales were made at the Shiiremarket to-day :—Deop Level Cross, Is Id ; Prince Imperial, from 28s to .los (id ; Caledonian Low I_evel, 9d ; Hand of Friendship, 2s 5d to 2s 7d. At tho Domain on Saturday, the Auckland v. Albert match was a draw, oach side scoring a try. That for Auckland by O'Connor was disputed, so that tho result of tho match is really in doubt. Grafton defeated Nowton by eight points to nil. T. Whiteside scored a goal from a difficult mark, and Ryan and Shicls obtained trios. Ponsonby was beaten by North Shore, tho scores being 5 points to 2. Sims obtained a try lor North Shore, and converted it into a goal, while the try fur Ponsonby wos scored by Whiteside. Tho parnell v. Manukau match was stepped, one of tho Manukau mon biting Hart's (Parnoll) ear nearly off. Tattersall's defeated True Blues on Surrey Hills by 5 points to nothing Motmock obtained a fry for the victors, and Johnson converted it into v goal.
