TAWHIAO'S VISIT TO ENGLAND.

Mcßoth and Taiwhanga Objocted To,

Although unable to secure berths on board the San Francisco mail steamer, Tawhiao and the other Maori chiefs will proceed to England as soon as possible— probably by direct steamer. The "King" was to leave Wliatiwhatihoo yesterday for a tour of Lower Waikato to bid farewell to the tribes ; but he may havo been delayed, as the projected trip to England is giving rise to numerous disputes. The correspondent of tho " Waikato Times," writing on Monday morning from Alexandra, says :— " Tawhiao leaves by canoe with a number of natives; his farewell will take place somewhere about Point Russell. I also hear that Hoaui Mohi Tawhai has written to Tawhiao a strong protest against Hirini Taiwhanga accompanying tlio party_ to England, urging that on Sydney's previous trip he in no manner conducted himself in a way to impress the people of England With n favourable opinion of the Maori race. At a meeting held la.t night other complications also aiwe, and at present nothing is definitely settled." Telegraphing from Wliatiwhatihoo the samo evening, the correspondent says :—"Tawhiao and party have not yet left here. There is considerable difference of opinion as to who should accompany him. Owing to some remarks of tbo chiefs, To Wheoro now refuses to go to England. A meeting is on to-day on the subject, the general wish and Tawhiao's being that he should proceed. Tawhiao will appoint someone to represent him here during his absence. He leaves to-morrow. Tawhiao refuses to pay Mcßeth's passage to England."
