Colton) 3Rocket, lOst 101b (Ross) 0 Betting : 7 to 4 against Hercules, 2 to 1 Karorea, 3 to '2 others. All four acceptors faced the starter. Karerea darted off with the lead, but was soon pulled back, allow-, ing Littlo John and Karerea to cut out the running. In passing the Stand all four wore well together, and jumping beauti fully, Rocket gaining considerably at each hurdle. At the far side of the courso iioiculcs was taken to tlio front and made tho pace a cracker. Entering tho straight lie was tlireo longhts ahead, but the others coining well under the whip, a pretty fight resulted in favour of Slicehan's mount by tlireo longhts, Littlo John beating Karerea liy a head for second place. Timo, 3m. llscc. Not a single mistako was made, ami all tho horses wero run clean out. Jockey Club Handicap. Lady Emma ... ... ... ... 1 Vanguard 2 Hippodamia :S
City Stakes Handicap of 5 soys., with 200 added ; for two-year-olds ; five furlongs. Watorsprito colt, Sst 21b(Brown) ... 1 Lady Evelyn, 9st (Cotton) 2 Wave filly, 7sl 51b (Straiten) ... :J Exatos was scratched. Lady Evelyn w s served up very warm for this race, 14 to 10 being freely laid on her. Cutts's colt got slightly tho best of tho start from tho favourite, Wavo filly being left, at tho post. The Watersprito colt always maintained his position, the whip being out to Evelyn before the straight was reached. Tho race, howovor, was never hi doubt. Watersprito eventually winning by a length and a half ; Wavo close up. Time lmiii. Tsees. Dividend, i.l lGs Cd.
