Thames, this day. Queen of Beauty*.—A fresh contract has been lot for driving 100 foot of the cross-cut towards tho Vanguard lode, No. 8 level, at £1 per foot. Work was commenced on Wednesday, with favourablo country in tho face.

Mariner.—The leader rocontly intersected in tho Company's ground at No. 4 lovel by the Queen of England workmen has been driven upon westward of the crossout for 20 feet, and has shown gold pretty freely. Tho quartz is only from Ito 3 inches thick.

London.—lt is roughly estimated that 40 feet of driving at No. 4 levol will reach tho winze sunk from No. 8. A small block on No. 1 reef at No. 3 lovel is being stopod, and gold is seen occasionally in tho stone broken.

New Prince Imperial.— Gold was scon freely to-day in breaking down No. 2 lode in the eastward drive, No. 5 level.

. Bright Smile.—Quartz is rapidly accumulating, and crushing will be commenced shortly. A few pounds of picked stone have boon obtained since tlio beginning of the week.

Kukanui Hill Company's crushing will bo finished to-morrow, but the retnrn will bo small. The manager has been ablo to tost several parts of the reef, and will honceforth confine operations to the best portions. Le Marquis, tributor, obtained 19 ozs. 17 dwts. from 6 tons of quartz. Waiomo.—Robert Workman, who has prospected perseveringly in this district for years, crushed 13cwt. of stone for a yield of lOozs.

Moanataiari.—Carter's tributer return is lloz. 3dwte. from 2J tons.

A deputation from Otanui claims waited on Mr Gordon, Inspecting Engineer, last night, applying for a diversion of the Government road voto for the construction of a tramway. Mr Gordon said the matter wairentirely one for the Minister of Mines, but he took notes of all details to lay before his superior.
