In Jtho Legislative Assembly last night, Governmeut were defeated on the proposed taxation scheme by 18 to 13 votes. The House stands adjourned to Thursday next. The Treasurer answered that the quarter's receipts were found to be £50,000 below 'the estimates, and ho expected it would be necessary to modify tho taxation proj>osals. It is probable that Government will seek a dissolution of Parliament.
