A meeting of the shareholders in the Emily Claim, To Aroha, was held this day, ■when a company was formed under the Mining Companies Act, 1872, to be called tho Emily Gold-mining Company (Limited), with a nominal capital of £20,000, in 20,000 shares of £1 each, 5,000 shares reserved for the benefit of the company. Tho following directors were appointed, viz. :—F. Scherft, E, Cameron, H, C. Choyce, James Dickey, James McCormack, G. Bruce, H. H. Hayr, with D. G. MacDonell as legal manager.
A man named Thomas Thompson, who has been employed as a shipwright at the North Shore, was arrested this afternoon by Constable Hutchinson on a charge of embezzling £1, the property of W. L. England, hi* employer, at Normanby, West Coast, in June, 1881. The prisoner asserts that he is not the person wanted. The following tenders were received ioday by Mr Edmund Bell for building a villa residence at Melrose for Mr W. E. E. Morton:—£soo; Flewellyn, £464; F. Duder, 4£28; Hi Smith, f3S9; (accopted) A. Reynolds, £ Ml 10s.
