Retirement of the Nelson Gaoler.
I Nelson, this day. jlt is stated that Mr Shallcross, gaoler, is about to retire from that position. Government are sending a chief warder in his place, and have granted him 12 months leave of absence, and ho is to havo a retiring allowance. Mr Shallcross was Chief of the Nelson Police under the Provincial •Government for thirteen years, and has held the ollicc of gaoler for nine years.
