CAMBRIDGE, this day. The Blue Ribbon Army is making great progress in this district, large numbers having donned the insignia, The case of Montague v, Morns, in which defendant appealed to the Supreme Court on the judgment given by Mr Northcroft, and which has been decided in favour of appellant, has created a considerable amount of talk here.
HAMILTON, Thursday.
T&e petition in favour of the retention of Mr Northcroft's services was despatched to Wellington yesterday. The number of signatures attached is 270, 53 of tbio number being obtained at Cambridge.
COKOMaNDEL, thia day.
Yesterday a horse jumped out of the horse-dox over the tide ot the steamer Coromandel, and went head-firbt down the hold of a vessel lying alongside. With another jump the horse got out c£ the vessel into the sea, and swam ashore.
DUNEBIN, this day.
Tho Union S,S. Co. have cabled advices cf the satisfactory trial trip of the Takapuna. She sails on the 17th inst, The gaol inquiry has been resumed, and Captain Hume is addressing the Commissioners,
