Action for Seduction.

At the Supreme Court to-day, Cuthbert Cowan, a runholder at Benmnre, was sued for damages for seduction, by the father of a servant named Christina lieaimingsen, a girl of 16. The damages -were laid at £600. It was alleged the girl was seduced by the defendant in hi* bouse. She gave birtfa to a child in July lust. The defence was a total deniil, and it was sought to prove that a young man seen with the girl on several occasions- was the fa'her of the child. The jury, afrer a long absence, returned a Yfrdict for tho plaiutiff ■ damages, £100,
