A terrible risk is incurred by those who attempt to approach the Fmperor Even when walking in his park he is watched by unseen protectors. In tho course of bis ramb'cs a short time ago, the Emperor came upon some workmen. He beckoned to one of them with a view to ask-
ing some questions, and the man, who seems to have recognised his majesty, relinguisliud his tools and ran towards tho Emperor in respouse to this invita-
tion. He hsd almost reached the spot where tre Czar -was sanding when
tho report of a rifle was heard, and tho unfortunate workman iell dead at the feet of his sovoicipn. The faithful scn-aat of the Kmperor had not seen the signal given, and supposed that the hurried approach of tho workman cou'd mran nothing else than bii attempt at ns-assination. It is said tbat
the Emperor showed much distress at the shocking occurrence. As he helped to raise the lifeless hudy from the ground, he must have nali-cd veiy keenly the unenviable position thai he occupies among bis own people.
