ENGINEER BAND CONCERT.
The Engineer Band annual concert and quadrille party took place in tho Choral Hall last evening. There was only a moderate attendance of the public, but the concert passed off very satisfactorily, and was worthy of better patronage. The Orchestral Sooiety, undor theeqnductorship of Herr Carl Schmitt, was In attendance, and during the evoningrendorcd with flno effect tho overtures," Crown Diamonds " (Aubor)," Dor* -""relsotraiE 1* (Weber), and vaiso *i_e.btt.ee__ " .(itraus*). Tho two latter were splendid productions. The Engineer Bond (oonduoted by Bandmaster lm»oj) mustered in full fcroe and contributed In oorreot and agreeable etjlei— "Grand Alt" (Varle), for every Inttruments "The Alliance" (J. Heek«i); march, - Choral;" .grand -election and "Q.zza Ladra ' (hosßini), Messrs Kdwards and Stewart were very incoesafnl tn the duet " Tho Moon has Raised Her Lamp -bave'* (J, Benedict), and were rewarded with applause at the oonoluslon ot tbeir effort, HerrSohmltiaccompanle^iheslngerslntheduer-, Miss -tephnneon wis «ell reoeived In her rendering ot the aria. " Travlata " (Vordi), a ratbor difficult selection for .o yourg a vocalist, and for ber ballsd, "A D_.r_.iol Fair was singing" (Sanss*, had to bow her acknowledgements bof to an appreciative su.lenoo. Miss S. phenson was equally Bucoe-stul In tbe art-, ''Travlata" (Verdi), and was heartily applauded. Ml.s Halßt-nd'd rendering ol the ar a, "Com a Hello," merited the warm appreciation which waa manifested at the 00-omsion of the piece—the lady having to return asd baw her ao-no-vl-dgmentr?. Mr Stuart rang "I Fear no Foe" (Picsnti), and the Misses Corbett aod Kofhpth.rno contributed the duoc "Martraarell. O_n_o*e Naoolltana" IVa nest), while Mr Kdwarns gave in bis nsnal style, "The Snow ihat Husheth All"(Pontet). Tho concert. on the wholo, proved a great euooeea. Speolal praise Is due to Herr - ohmltt aud the Orohostral I Society for tho valuable contribution-. At the owohnlon of the performance a -elect quadrille party was hel., and passed off very suoocesfully.
