A meeting of the creditors of W. J. O'Brien,' baker, of Parnell, was held this afternoon, when the debtor was examined at some length. The particulars of the insolvency have' already been reported, so tbat it is unnecessary to give them again.
The annual meeting of the Waihi Goldmining Company, which was to have been held this afternoon, lapsed for want of a quorum, According to the most recent reports from the manager, the water-race and battery are in a disgraceful state, tbe former having fettled down considerably. Only about 30 strokes per minute can be obtained from the battery instead of 70, as was expected.' We understand it to be the intention of the directors to hold someone responsible for the state of affairs. It has been suggested to send to America for a hew turbine, and this will probably be done. In the meantime, all expenses will be curtailed.
