LAUNCH OF A STEAMER.
A new steamer for the Northern S. S. Company will be launched from Messrs McQuarrio and McCallum's ship-building yards at Mechanics1 Bay about 6 o'clock this evening. She is intended for the Mercury Bay trade, and will probably take the place of the s.s. Finuil now running. The dimensions of the vessel arc: Length ot keel, 98ft; breadth of beam, 17ft 6ia; depth of hold, Bft. The engines are supplied by Messrs lfraser and Tinne. The now steamer ia to be named the Douglas.
