WAIKATO TURF CLUB RACES.
HAMILTON. Thursday. Before the first race, Colonel Lyon, on behalf of the Waikato Turf Club, presented a hand, some flagstaff and flax to tho starter, Mr v. j Storey. Tho staff was of polished rata, and bore a suitable Inscription. Mr Storey returned thanks. The Handicap Hnrdle Raoe brought flva horses to the starting post. Coutts's Harkawu lod for the first round. Unole Tom fell, but both hor*e and rider escaped Injury. It t£ suited-Shakespeare's Harkaway, I; OouttaV Harkaway, 2; Sportsman, 3. The Maiden Plate was a gift to Mr Bucktand's Princo Charlie, the Saint beiog second and JBlackoook third. Beeswiog also ran. Tho Turi Club Handicap was deoldedly the best raoe of the day. Kenilworth led at tha start and was not overhauled until a quarter of a mile from home, when Dewdrop and Raud. wick took the premier position, Dewdrop even* tually won by a neck, Randwlck socond, and Kenilworth third. Lara was a bad fourth, and Yatapa nowhere. Randwlck, Rita, and Robert the Devil ran In the President's Stakes, Kobert the Devil eventually winning by three lengths. The Hack Helling Race was won by Backland's Omega.
