Tub schooner Winifred, Captain Douglas, arrived in Suva from tho Mew Hebrides on thi! 26th ult., with a full compliment ot 74. recruits, and the Sea Breeze, Captain WilHams, on the 30th with 82.
By proclamation in the "Fiji Royal Gazette," the boundiirios of the ports of Lcvuka and Suva arc defined for revenue purposes. The assessment of native taxation for the year 1882 is fixed at £20,000. By the arrival of the schooner Nlufou, we have later news from Samoa, from which we learn that matters aro generally very quiet in the Navigator Islands, and Malietoa's rule is unopposed by the old Tiiiinua and Faipule party, the German Government having announced through their Consul their intention to lend their assistance to the King in the event of any attempt to resume hostilities. In consequence of the great fall in the price of copra, which is the principal staple of the group" business is dull, money scarce, and everything in a very depressed state.
