The German lleichstag has re-elected the President and Viue-President, A Bedotiin murdered a soldier at Suez, and the affair led to a riot among the mili-' tary, in the course of which tho Governor was subjected to outrage. December 20. Eighteen Socialists have been arrested in Vienna. Forty deaths occurred through an explosion at Alram colliery, Wigan, Lancashire. The Lord Mayor of London has communicated with tho Provincial Mayors requesting co-operation in a movement initiated for the defence of property in Ireland during the present period of lawlessness, A farmer has been murdered at Abbexaiy, Queen's County, Ireland. Iv consequence of the menacing attitude assumed by prominent members of the Ladies' Land League,the Government have determined to suppress the organisation, and tho authorities arc preparing a prison at Grangegoram County, Dublin, for the recaption of political offendora.
